Question 10: Can I register for this site without my spouse knowing?
Answer: Yes you may. The spouse who first signs up for the PrepYourDivorce.com document service is the one considered our customer, and the only person we will speak to regarding the paperwork – this is done for your own safety. Yet, if you send us an E-mail from the account which you used to initiate the PrepYourDivorce.com service, or place a call to our Customer Service department giving us permission, we can then speak to your spouse on your behalf.
Question 11: How much are court filing fees?
Answer: Court filing fees vary by county. The fee for all counties (except Riverside County and San Francisco County) to open your divorce case is $395 (Riverside and San Francisco have a fee of $410). You and/or your spouse will also be responsible for paying a response charge of the same amount ($395 or $410 depending on filing county) when a Response document is filed.
On the other hand, if you can successfully prove current financial hardship to the court, you may be granted the ability to file your case without paying the required fees.
